About the association
The history of Al-Houtia Local Community Development Association since its registration in 1993, its mission and values, and how it is governed under the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
Who we are
Al-Houtia Local Community Development Association (Arabic: جمعية تنمية المجتمع المحلي بالحوتية) is a non-profit Egyptian NGO based in the Al-Houtia neighbourhood of Agouza, Giza. It was founded in 1993 by residents of the area and has since provided health, social and cultural services to the surrounding families, free of charge or for a token fee.
The association's logo carries four words that describe it: development, social, charitable, religious. They sum up what it tries to be: a civic body that develops its neighbourhood, cares for its families, does good and respects the community's values.
Mission
To improve the lives of families in Al-Houtia and the surrounding areas through accessible health and social services and cultural and religious activities, in partnership with residents, state institutions and civil society.
Vision
A close-knit local community in which every person finds care and dignity, and in which those who wish to do good find an organised, transparent way to do it.
Values
- Dignity: we serve people as they deserve, in health and in illness, in life and after it.
- Proximity: we work from inside the neighbourhood and with it, not from a distance.
- Transparency: our official data is published and our work is supervised by the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
- Volunteering: everyone who wants to give time or expertise is welcome.
